Bereits in jungen Jahren diagnostizierte man ein ernstes Rückenleiden bei ihm und riet zur Operation. Trotz junger Jahre bereits mit einem eigenen Kopf gesegnet, beschloss er, sich nach alternativen Wegen umzuschauen, die er auch fand und die ihm eine Operation ersparten. Dieser erste Kontakt mit dem Thema Faszien, funktionalem Bewegen und Körperstruktur sollte ihn von da an nicht mehr loslassen. Als begeisterter Kampfkünstler, der nun wieder seinem Hobby in vollen Zügen nachgehen konnte, hatte das Thema „Bewegen“ natürlich eine noch größere Anziehungskraft auf ihn. Der erste Schritt dazu war der Beginn einer Ausbildung zum Gesundheits- und Krankenpfleger an der Uniklinik Düsseldorf. Da er die Potentiale der Faszientherapie am eigenen Leibe erlebt hatte, war für ihn jedoch von Beginn an klar, dass er diese Art der Arbeit mit Klienten unbedingt erlernen wollte.
